14 days left??

Here I am, at 38 weeks.  I can't figure out what happened to the last 34 weeks.  There was so much stuff that was keeping me distracted I can't believe there are only 14 days left until her due date.  I thought February would never come and here we are, February 4th.

So many people have their predictions of when peanut will decide to join us.  Her uncle was hoping for the 5th (tomorrow) because that is his birthday.  Grandpa wants her to come on the 9th so all of his favorite girls will have birthdays on the 9th.  Mommy- November 9th, Auntie- December 9th and Grandma- January 9th so hers would fit right in there being February 9th.  Great Grandma wants her to come on Valentines Day because that was Great Grandpa's birthday.  Auntie and Grandma have predicted February 15 for no other reason than just a prediction.  Daddy doesn't have an exact prediction, and each ones he gives keeps changing.  Lately he said that sometime between 12-18 is good.  And, well me being the math geek that I am I came up with my own dorky prediction.  My birthday is on the 9th (9x1), Daddy's birthday is the 18th (9x2), so I predict peanut will come on the 27th (9x3).  I might be the only crazy pregnant lady that is predicting almost 10 days late as a delivery date.   Not that it actually means I want to go that long, because I don't.  I'm so excited and anxious to finally get to meet her.  Ideally it would be nice if she decided to show up on a Friday.  Then I wouldn't have to technically start my maternity leave until that following Monday since I don't work on Fridays.  That would give me a nice extra couple of days.

However, as excited and anxious as I am I know I'm going to miss things about being pregnant.  I love feeling all of her kicks and pokes.  She hasn't done anything that hurt really bad so I guess I'm lucky in that department.  I love when she pokes a body part out, we will poke back an forth at each other.  I love seeing my belly move from the outside when she is throwing herself a party in there.  I could watch that for hours, but that will be replaced with me wanting to watch her sleeping face.  I can't wait to touch her little button nose, and kiss those beautiful cheeks.  I'm excited to see what color hair she has, hopefully its not plain and boring like mine.  I want to count her fingers and toes and look into those pretty little eyes.

Ultimately I tell myself that I have no longer than 28 days left to wait for her.  Although I would be perfectly happy with 18 or less :)  This is the worst kind of countdown for someone like me.  There is a countdown to a due date, but the due date doesn't really mean anything as all you other parents can understand.  Each day I keep waiting for some sort of a sign that something is going to happen soon, but thus far, a whole lot of nothing. In the end it doesn't matter when she decides to come now, as long as she is healthy.

Here I am at 38 weeks.  These maternity shirts are a joke after you reach a certain point.  There is no way I could get away with wearing this without the white undershirt.  You would think they could make them a little longer.

Only 6 more weeks

I got scolded for not making a post on here in a while so here I am :)

Daddy Lucas was in town for 2 weeks at Christmas.  It was nice having him in town and he was able to make it to 2 of the birthing classes.  It was so great that he got to participate in that part of the pregnancy.  Next time he hits MN he will be a daddy :)

Only 6 more weeks until her due date.  I can't believe we are getting so close.  Went out to Target and got all the final things for her arrival.  Washed all of her clothes and put them away as well as got her crib put together and got her sheets on the mattress.  Its nice to get things organized, although I'm not totally finished yet.

In one aspect 6 weeks doesn't seem like that long, but when it comes to meeting my daughter it seems like forever.  I can't wait for her to come.  Although as uncomfortable as I can be, and how interrupted my sleep is, and how much I want to stop working I want her to stay in there as long as she needs to be to be perfectly healthy.  Ya I might change my tune in a few weeks but deep down I will be as uncomfortable as needed for my baby girl to be healthy.  In the end, that is all that matters.

She is moving so much now.  No more little kicks, nudges and shoves going on in my belly.  She gets really active when I'm sitting at work.  I don't think she likes when I shorten her room by sitting.  Stubborn little girl is already like her mommy.

Here are few pictures to fill in the blank time between blogs:

Baby Shower

We are so blessed to have the people in our lives that we do.  The baby shower was yesterday and it was so nice to have so many people show up and celebrate our baby girl.  Thank you so much to Stefany Janish for hosting the shower, Megan Buchholz for helping with games, Candace Hecht for bringing beverages and Aunt Nellie for bringing the cake.  I felt so loved by everyone there yesterday and the generosity that was shown to us.  We got so much stuff for our baby girl, now I'm really going to start going crazy getting ready for her.  I'm going to have to reorganize everything so I can find the floor again in the room.

I'm horrible at taking pictures and after getting home realized I forgot to take the pictures of what I wanted, the food all set out and a picture of everyone that came.  Here are a few pictures of what I did get.  Thank you again to everyone that came.  We love you all.

Setting in...

Now that the crib has been up for a week and I just took out the car seat its really starting to set in this little girl is going to join our family.  I'm so excited to get everything ready for her and decorate her part of the room.  I haven't completely set on what I want on the wall over her crib yet but I have a few ideas going through my head.

We are pretty sure on the name Abigail Taylor.  I can't fully commit until I see this little girls face and know that she is an Abigail.  Daddy is the one that picked the name.  It means Father's Joy, so that won him over.  Taylor has been a name that I have wanted to name my girl since I was about 15 years old.  No special meaning other than I have loved it for over a decade so that is good enough for me.

She has been kicking like crazy.  Loves kicking on the right side.  So much so that while Daddy and I were Skyping he could see my belly move from her kicks.  I love feeling those kicks.  Its a reassurance that she is doing well in there.  I can't wait to meet her but she can stay in there for at least another 8 weeks.

I should be studying for my final tomorrow but I'm so distracted and excited for this little girl its so hard for me to concentrate.  I can't wait until tomorrow is over and I don't have to worry about classes until May again.  Although then it will be even harder to concentrate because I won't just have the little kicks and planning distracting me I will have the beautiful little girl in my arms distracting me.

However no matter how hard all of this is for daddy and I it will all be worth it when its over.  Struggling through school and living apart from each other is not easy, we knew that going into this situation, but in the end it is what we need to do.  Somedays I think it's harder on me than it is on daddy, but then other days I know it is way harder for daddy.  Right now I get to feel her every movement and hear her heartbeat at every appointment.  After she is here I get to hug and kiss and cuddle with her everyday.  Daddy doesn't get that luxury.  So I know and am preparing myself for some over the top spoiling of that little princess in the beginning.  I will be sure to keep it to a certain extent though, no ponies :)  I am going to have to make sure and be on top of my mommy game and document everything I can and take an insane amount of pictures so daddy can feel as apart of this as possible.  Videos of anything and everything so he doesn't feel like he is missing everything.  All easier said than done so I will have to make notes for myself to make sure I am keeping up on all of this no matter how crazy life gets.  I hope one day if she asks why daddy wasn't in that many pictures in the first year she will understand the sacrifices he made for her and that she will be proud of what her daddy is doing while he is gone.

Oh and here is a new picture of mama Lucas.  29 weeks and a new easy hairdo.

Daddy is home

Daddy Lucas flew in early Thanksgiving morning.  It is so nice to have him back for a few days.  He got to meet some of my side of the family, finally, after being together for over 2.5 years.  Then after eating one Thanksgiving dinner we headed over to his MN family to have another Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a lot of food and it was so tasty.  While we were over at the Wrights he got to feel baby girl kick for the first time.  I so happy she cooperated and let daddy feel her kick.  She even gave him a one, two punch.

After I got my black Friday shopping in and found lots of unnecessary clothing for my new favorite little one mama and daddy put together her crib.  It was very easy and we love it.  It makes it so much more real that she is going to be here in 12 weeks.  Here are some pictures of putting together the crib.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

25 weeks

We have now hit the 25 week point.  Only 15 more weeks to go.  I can't wait to finally get the chance to hold this little girl in my arms and kiss her and give her all the love she deserves.  So far its been a very easy pregnancy and I'm hoping the last 15 weeks keep it that way.  Can't wait for daddy Lucas to come home for Thanksgiving so he can feel this little girl moving around.

Here we go with a little 25 week magic :)

My Sweet Baby Girl

I am so excited to meet my little girl.  At the same time I'm so scared to be responsible for a little one.  I guess this is the point when worrying non stop becomes a way of life.  I can't imagine how much I'm going to worry about this little girl once she is out in the world.  I already worry about her like crazy and she is with me at all times.

I'm so excited to see what she looks like.  To hold her for the first time.  To look into those eyes that will have me forever.  To see what color hair she has.  To see what her cute little nose looks like.  To kiss those adorable cheeks over and over again.  Its amazing how you can love someone so much that you have never met.

I'm so blessed to have such a loving husband who is over the moon for our baby girl to get here.  Its like my happily ever after is finally coming around.
